Dr. Hao Wu is a nephrologist and ​principle investigator at The Second Hospital of Jilin University, as well as a Distinguished Expert and Visiting Professor at The '973' National Basic Research Program of China, Changchun University of Chinese Medicine. He was a medical student at Norman Bethune Medical School, Jilin University and did his intern at The Second Hospital of Jilin University from 2002 to 2009. He did research on diabetic nephropathy at University of Louisville from 2013 to 2015 as a visiting scholar and received his Ph.D. in 2015. Dr. Wu published research as either the first or the corresponding author in several journals including Diabetologia, Free Radical Biology & Medicine, Journal of Endocrinology and more. In addition to his publications, he is serving as a lead guest editor for Journal of Diabetic Research, and an editorial member for American Research Journal of Nephrology and Journal of Cell Biology and Metabolism. He also served as a referee for many journals such as Toxicological Sciences, American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, Oncotarget, etc. Dr. Wu is a regular member of American Diabetes Association, American Society of Nephrology and American Physiology Society.
Dr. Wu’s research interest includes oxidative stress, inflammation, genetic and epigenetic mechanisms in the pathogenesis of diabetes and its vascular complications, such as diabetic nephropathy and atherogenesis.
