Scholarena offers waivers and reduced APCs to support researchers from low- and middle-income countries, and those without institutional funding.
Scholarena journals may permit waivers to authors who are unable to afford the manuscript handling fee. Authors wishing to apply for a waiver must demonstrate their inability to afford the APC.
Corresponding authors requesting these waivers should clearly demonstrate why their application should be granted. Authors eligible for waivers should apply immediately after submission.
To ensure that editorial decisions are never influenced by an author’s ability to pay APCs, editors of Scholarena journals are not involved in correspondence with authors regarding payment. Waiver policy is managed by administrative staff not involved in decisions regarding article acceptance.
Waivers are an editorial decision — never a billing one. Your waiver request is reviewed independently of peer review, and does not affect the handling or outcome of your manuscript.
