Dr. J. Michael Hardin is the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Samford University. Dr. Hardin has a B.A. in Math and Philosophy from the University of West Florida, an M.S. in Research Design and Statistics from Florida State University, and an M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Alabama. He earned a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and his Ph.D. in Applied Statistics from the University of Alabama. His areas of speciality include data mining and knowledge discovery, data visualization, data warehousing, machine learning, statistical classification models, data management and collection methodologies, research design, informatics, the applications of statistical methodologies in biostatistics.
Dr. J. Michael Hardin has memberships in many professional and scholarly organizations like Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity (2014 - Present), INFORMS (2011 – Present), etc. He has patents and received honors, the fellow award like got Elected 2011 Fellow of the American Statistical Association. He serves as Editor in many international journals and participates in activities related to service, school, and community, etc.
Dr. J. Michael Hardin research interests include Statistical issues in Business Analytics, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, including appropriate Database and Data Warehouse design and development. Particular areas of application include health and healthcare organization data analysis, e.g. profiling, case-mix adjustments, fraud and aberrancy identification, and utilization and risk management
